What Stump Grinding Involves
Stump grinding uses a specialized machine with a rotating cutting disc to chip away the stump and the larger surface roots. The operator grinds the stump down to several inches below ground level, and the resulting wood chips and soil are left in place unless you ask for them to be removed. The process does not disturb the surrounding lawn or landscaping as much as stump removal by excavation.
